my little petunia

"i'm a lonely petunia in an onion patch la la la la la la"  zoe's favorite song of late.  (listen to it on the sidebar)

zoe's kindergarten class float in the san francisco cherry blossom parade (she's in the center)

so i asked her what it meant to her.

"well, it's about friends and feelings."

"tell me more about that" i said.

"it's like this, i'm the petunia, and there is this onion patch.  the onions are all friends, and i'm alone.  but then one of the onions becomes my friend, and i'm not alone anymore.  isn't it so nice and relaxing? it makes me calm."  she said.

little insights.
sensing of a difference.
acknowledgment of the feeling.
awareness that it only takes one onion to be happy- not the whole patch.
hope.  calm.
