hard rain

it's a hard, it's a hard rain.  sheets of it- drowning out the noise of anything else.  it's lovely in it's noise and consumption of all else- laying itself down over everything-covering and filling- and somehow quieting.  it can calm a stirring soul.

i know it's old.
but i love edie brickells version of bob dylan's a hard rain's a-gonna fall.
his words, her voice.
because it says so much. not just about war, but about suffering, and disparity, and the beauty and the ugly of life. because i feel the contrast here more than i did in the US.  and i'm thinking about it today in this hard rain.
