splendor in the grass

sometimes we climb to the top of our mountain and we can see it all.  the view stretches on for miles and we are thankful and even the steep parts were worth it, we know 'why', we'd do it again.

other times we get to the top and all we see is fog- thick whiteness.  we are only given the short view right in front of us.  and we wonder why we climbed? for this? we wonder what was the point?

but if we look hard at the space in front of us, the water drops on the grass blades are diamonds, twinkling.  and they are everywhere.

it's not what we expected, it's not what we hoped for, but it is beautiful- totally different- but beautiful.  we see things we would have otherwise missed- small things that are right next to us and fleeting.

today i want to look at the splendor in front of me.

and if we wait long enough- the fog clears.  the view is revealed - the big picture comes into focus.
