short and sweet

it's beautiful tonight.  off in the distance i can here the sweet lugandan songs and druming.  it's cool and fresh and the moon like a lopsided shell is rising in the sky. it was a morning of crazy thunderstorms, followed by afternoon sunshine and that crystal clarity that can only follow the washing of rain.  beautiful.

i've been feeling so blessed again today- by being here.  i just drove down to the little town for milk and juice and as i bumped along the road and watched the women heading home in their wraps, with babies strapped to their backs and children hanging on to their arms like strings, i had this moment of full appreciation for life- for where i've ended up at 40.  africa.  a place i'd dreamed about.  thankful for the desire to be here, for the people who've helped us get here, for the people who've welcomed us so warmly and continue to live life with us, and for the internet which keeps the distances around the world shorter than they've ever been.
