on saturday we went to jinja- on the banks of lake victoria at the source of the nile river. it's about a 50 kilometer drive each way. on the way there we saw an over turned truck and on the way home - watched a motorcycle accident. nice. but here are our photos.

this guy was so hungry he was almost crying- but not hungry enough to eat his burger because there were 'spices' in it.

the restaurant was definitely on african time- the kids were a little stir crazy.

Kris - its Meredith from SF. You contacted me 2 yrs ago about teaching palliative care and we never connected because I was pretty sick at the time (taken down by hyperemesis gravidarum). I recovered, had a girl, so very grateful for her and my family, so agreed to endure pregnancy again. And here I am again, feeling so ill and uncomfortable and useless and just willing the minutes and days to pass by quicker. And I stumbled across your blog on facebook. (I'm never on facebook and I'm not a huge blog follower, but was trying to pass the time - see above).
I have spent the last 2 hours devouring your blog -- loving your courage, your eloquence, your honesty, your photos, and of course, the fact that you moved your family to Uganda! While no part of me can imagine getting off the couch at this moment, there is a huge part that is happy that I can live vicariously through you. Thank you for helping me pass this long afternoon, and for truly moving and inspiring me.
