today was a good day. when the alarm went off, i was in the right sleep cycle and didn't mind getting out of bed at 6. i got out of the house before the kids woke up and i had to feel guilty about leaving. at starbucks, my morning treat was actually fresh- and Ray behind the counter let me know it- "could i have one of the ones from the middle?" "there all the same. it's 6:30 am, i just put them out." (OK- but usually they're not)
of course, today is friday. friday's, i go to work. fridays i don't home school zoe. fridays are my "easy" day because i'm not related to anyone that i take care of. i get to think about other peoples health problems and actually help them. and the amazing happens, they actually thank me and all day long i feel good and productive and purposeful.
monday, tuesday, wednesday and thursday are different. they are slow and full and funny and trying. i get to spend time with my favorite little people. i get to hear their random thoughts, at random times, i get to hear what their worlds look like- doesn't my toast crust look like a giraffee? they find things i have forgotten to look for. they imagine while i try to figure out. they create while i try to plan. they have mastered "be-ing", "be-ing still" even while wiggling. "be-ing still" in the moment. they remind me that that is how we are called to live.
"Listen to your life. See it for the fathomless mystery it is. In the boredom and the pain of it no less than in the excitment and gladness: touch, taste, smell you way to the holy and hidden heart of it because in the last analysis, all moments are key moments and life iteslf is grace. " Fredrick Buechner
i need to learn to be still. i need to learn from them as i teach them. each day is a good day- each day is grace.

the above is a post from Justine not Hallycya!
Kris, This is beautiful. Your sister gave me this blog site this morning, and I have just spent my entire lunchbreak reading and crying. You are such an amazing strong person and you have such a wonderful, unique, loving family. I gain strength from you. I feel privileged to even know you. Keep writing. Please. Love, Beth
